Severe Weather Alerts Issued Across Multiple States by IMD

IMD Weather LIVE Updates: A number of states are currently facing severe weather conditions due to western disturbances. Over the last 24 hours, rain accompanied by thunderstorms has affected Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a new alert indicating the possibility of further rainfall in various areas.


Regions expected to experience heavy rainfall include Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana on June 3rd, as well as Kerala and Mahe from June 3rd to 4th. The IMD noted, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon is currently positioned at 17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, passing through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E.”


Additionally, West Rajasthan is forecasted to experience dust storms until June 5th. Commuters in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand should prepare for potential delays and traffic disruptions in the upcoming days due to rainfall. Travelers planning to visit these areas are advised to adjust their itineraries accordingly. The weather agency has also issued warnings for thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50-60 km/h, potentially gusting up to 70 km/h over West Madhya Pradesh on June 3rd and 4th.


Furthermore, hot and humid conditions are anticipated in Odisha until June 6th, as well as in Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during June 3rd and 4th.
